The short answer
A KOL campaign costs whatever its creators charge, plus the work around them: the idea, the briefs, the reviews, the reporting — and usually some ad budget to push the best posts further. Creator fees are only one line of the bill.
What drives the price
- Follower tier. Bigger audiences cost more per post, though not always more per sale.
- Platform and format. A short video takes more work than a story, and is priced like it.
- Usage rights. Running a creator’s content as your own ads costs extra. Agree it before anyone posts.
- Exclusivity. Asking a creator not to work with competitors for a while costs extra too.
- Number of creators. Ten smaller creators can cost the same as one large one, and reach a more trusting audience.
- Timing. Festive seasons are busy, so the best creators book up and their prices firm up.

Where the value actually is
Follower count is the easiest number to buy and the weakest predictor of results. What matters is whether a creator’s audience could ever buy your product, and whether the content carries your idea instead of drowning it.
That’s why we build creators into one campaign idea. For PureMed, office-worker KOLs made skits around a single comparison — your gut is a messy desk — and invited people to join a challenge. In three months it reached 679,494 people, and 250 joined in. Read the PureMed case.
How to budget one that works
- Start from the objective, not the creator list. Awareness, trust and sales need different mixes.
- Mix tiers. A few larger creators for reach, more smaller ones for trust.
- Keep budget for ads. Boosting the posts that already work is often the best money in the campaign.
- Measure creator by creator, so the next round only rehires the ones who moved something.
