The short answer

Price guides published by Malaysian agencies in 2026 put typical social media management packages between RM 1,500 and RM 6,000 a month. Freelancers start from about RM 800. Full-service agencies run from about RM 4,000 to RM 15,000 or more. Ad spend is almost always extra.

What drives the price

  • Platforms. Each platform needs its own formats and timing. Four platforms cost more than one.
  • Posts a month, and what they are. A reel takes far more work than a graphic. Video-heavy plans cost more.
  • Languages. English, Mandarin and Malay content each need a writer who speaks the language — not a translation tool.
  • Community management. Replying within the hour, seven days a week, costs more than replying once a day.
  • Strategy and reporting. A calendar of posts is cheaper than a plan built on a business goal and reviewed every month.
  • Ads. Running paid campaigns adds a management fee on top of the ad spend itself.

What’s usually not in the monthly fee

  • Ad spend. You pay Meta or TikTok directly. Price guides put ads management at RM 800 – 5,000 a month, or 10–20% of ad spend.
  • Big shoots. Brand films and shoot days with crew, locations and talent are often quoted per project, even when short reels are included.
  • KOL fees. Creators charge per post. See what creators typically charge.

Cheap or expensive: what you’re really paying for

A low monthly fee buys posts. That’s fine if all you need is a presence. But if social media has to bring in leads or carry a launch, judge it on that — and price it on that.

Here’s what we mean. A client came to us with no social presence. We built their channels from zero, then ran Meta video ads featuring their own team, and tracked lead quality, not just lead count. From May to September 2026, the campaign returned 14 times its ad spend. Read the case.

What to ask before you sign

  1. What’s the goal, and how will we measure it each month?
  2. Who makes the content? The team you meet, or someone they outsource to?
  3. Which languages, and who writes each one?
  4. Is ad spend included? If not, what’s the management fee?
  5. What happens in the monthly review? A PDF of likes, or decisions about next month?
  6. How long is the contract, and what’s the notice period?
